BFly FACTS

*SAVE TIME-The average person gets 1 interruption every 8 minutes, or approximately 7 an hour, or 50-60 per day. The average interruption takes 5 minutes, totaling about 4 hours or 50% of the average workday. 80% of those interruptions are typically rated as "little value" or "no value" creating approximately 3 hours of wasted time per day. We wonder how many of those minutes are related to your wardrobe?

*REMOVE CLUTTER
-A person who works with a "messy" or cluttered desk spends, on average, 1 1/2 hours per day looking for things or being distracted by things or approximately 7 1/2 per workweek. "Out of sight; out of mind." When it’s in sight, it’s in mind. We tend to think of your closet, the way others think of your desk.

*MAKE A POSITIVE CHANGE
-"If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve always got." To change our output, we must change our input. We believe consigning is one of the best ways to CHANGE.

*HELP SOMEONE- The recently published IRS Spring 2010 Statistics of Income Bulletin provides insight into ‘noncash giving’ by donation type, donor age and income for tax year 2007. More than 6.9 million tax returns reported $52.8 billion in noncash charitable donations.

Clothing donations represented the second largest category of noncash donations at $7.6 billion (14.4 percent of all non cash contributions).

*SAVE THE PLANET- The environmental footprint of our clothing is substantial. Americans throw away 68 pounds of clothes on average each year, and we only buy 10 pounds of recycled clothes annually.

The materials used to make our attire are often environmentally toxic and require significant amounts of energy and water during the manufacturing process.

Buying recycled clothes has an even smaller environmental footprint. The 12 to 15 percent of people who shopped at consignment and thrift stores in 2006 saved 2.5 billion pounds of clothes from re-entering the waste stream.
